Houthi Missile Attack on Commercial Tanker Misses Target
US Navy Ships Escort Tanker Through Bab el-Mandeb Strait
UAE Questions Baghdad's Involvement in Regional Tensions
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Yemeni Houthi rebels fired a ballistic missile on Thursday that missed a container ship traveling through the crucial Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The United States Navy sent ships to escort the tanker, which was carrying Indian-manufactured jet fuel, through the strategic waterway.
The missile attack came just days after a drone attack by a little-known armed group in Iraq against targets in the United Arab Emirates. The attacks have raised concerns about Baghdad's potential involvement in the regional tensions between the UAE and Iran.
The United Arab Emirates has long been considered a safe haven in the volatile Middle East, but the recent attacks have shown that the country is not immune to the conflicts in the region.
