Cowboys To Play Week 1 Opener In Cleveland

Cowboys to Play Week 1 Opener in Cleveland

No Night Game to Start Season

The Dallas Cowboys will kick off their 2023 season on the road against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, the team announced on Thursday. The game will be played at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Sunday, September 10th, at 1:00 PM ET. This will be the first time the Cowboys have opened the season on the road since 2019 when they lost to the Rams in Los Angeles. They have not played in Cleveland since 2016, when they won 35-10. The Browns are coming off a disappointing 7-10 season in 2022 but have made some significant additions to their roster this offseason, including quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Cowboys are also hoping to rebound from a disappointing 12-5 campaign in which they missed the playoffs.

Optimistic Outlook

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is optimistic about the team's chances in 2023, especially with the return of running back Ezekiel Elliott. "Zeke is a huge part of our offense," McCarthy said. "He's a complete back who can do it all. He's going to be a big part of our success this year." Elliott missed six games last season due to injury, but he is expected to be healthy and ready to go for Week 1. The Cowboys are hoping to make a deep playoff run in 2023, and a strong start to the season will be crucial. They will face a tough test in Week 1 against the Browns, but they have the talent and experience to get the job done.
