Roberto de Zerbi: International managerial career

From Foggia to Brighton: The journey of Roberto De Zerbi

A look at the Italian manager's managerial history

Roberto De Zerbi has established himself as one of the most promising managers in European football. The Italian has managed several clubs in his home country and abroad, and has consistently impressed with his attacking style of play and ability to develop young players.

De Zerbi began his managerial career with Foggia in 2014. He guided the Serie C club to promotion to Serie B in his first season, and then to the verge of promotion to Serie A in his second season. His success at Foggia earned him a move to Palermo in 2016, but he was sacked after just one season following a poor start to the campaign.

De Zerbi then moved to Benevento in 2017. He led the Serie B club to promotion to Serie A in his first season, and then kept them in the top flight the following season. De Zerbi's success at Benevento earned him a move to Sassuolo in 2019.

De Zerbi spent three seasons at Sassuolo, and established the club as a regular top-half Serie A side. He also led Sassuolo to the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia in 2021.

In 2022, De Zerbi left Sassuolo to join Shakhtar Donetsk. He won the Ukrainian Premier League title in his first season at the club, but was forced to leave due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

De Zerbi then joined Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022. He has made an immediate impact at the Premier League club, and has guided them to their highest ever league finish. De Zerbi is widely regarded as one of the most exciting managers in the world, and he is likely to continue to impress in the years to come.
