Early Life and Career

Jay Robert "JB" Pritzker was born on January 19, 1965, in Atherton, California. He grew up in a wealthy family and attended exclusive schools. After graduating from Duke University and Stanford Law School, Pritzker moved to Chicago and began working as an attorney.

In the 1990s, Pritzker founded the venture capital firm Pritzker Group Private Capital. He also became involved in politics, serving as chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party from 2009 to 2015.

Governor of Illinois

In 2018, Pritzker was elected governor of Illinois. He is the first Democrat to serve as governor in more than a decade.
